Ercan Airport, located in northern Cyprus — a territory recognized only by Turkey — handled more than 5.29 million passengers and 34,345 aircraft between January and November this year, officials said Monday.

Serhat Özçelik, general manager of T&T Airport Operations, said passenger numbers are expected to exceed 5.5 million by the end of 2025.

Comparing the same 11‑month period with last year, passenger traffic rose 20% while aircraft movements increased nearly 23%.

In 2024, 4.4 million passengers and 27,931 aircraft used the airport, compared with 5.29 million passengers and 34,345 aircraft this year.

Ercan is the only civilian airport in the north, and all flights operate to and from Turkey due to the lack of international recognition of the self‑declared ‘Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus’.
