A 40‑year‑old man in Paphos was defrauded after communicating via WhatsApp with individuals who convinced him to invest in cryptocurrency.
The man transferred €28,958 to the scammers in November.
When he later requested the profit he believed he had earned, he was asked to send additional money and realized he had been deceived.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
