Finnish police say the vessel suspected of causing the New Year’s Eve cable break between Finland and Estonia dragged its anchor for several dozen kilometers.
Investigators found a long drag mark on the seabed that matches the route of the suspected ship, according to public broadcaster Yle.
One crew member was arrested on Sunday. The ship has a 14‑member crew from Russia, Georgia, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan; two had already been detained earlier.
The 132‑meter cargo ship Fitburg was sailing from St. Petersburg, Russia, to Haifa, Israel, when it was stopped by border guards and brought to a Finnish port.
Police are investigating the cable damage as aggravated criminal mischief.
