A 64‑year‑old man injured in a road crash in the Famagusta district last month has died of his injuries, police said Tuesday.
Panayiotis Theofanous, from Avgorou, had been hospitalized at Nicosia General Hospital following the collision on Jan. 16. Police said he was riding a moped in Avgorou when, under circumstances still under investigation, he lost control and struck the wall of a nearby house.
He was first taken to Famagusta General Hospital, where doctors found internal bleeding and a head injury. He was later transferred to Nicosia General Hospital for further treatment, but died on Tuesday.
Famagusta traffic police are continuing their investigation.
