The Cyprus Turkish Doctors’ Union (Tıp‑İş) says it will proceed with a one‑day strike on Monday, accusing the ‘Health Ministry’ of failing to show any willingness to reach a compromise or address long‑standing problems facing doctors and the health system.
In a written statement, the union said no concrete steps had been taken by the ministry, adding: “Our union has decided to maintain its strike action.”
The strike will take place on 9 February, during which all health services in public facilities where the union is represented will be suspended — except for emergency departments, intensive care units, inpatient services, hemodialysis and chemotherapy.
Tıp‑İş said it will hold a press briefing at 10 a.m. the same day at ‘Famagusta State Hospital’ to outline the latest developments, inviting media, civil‑society groups and other unions to attend.
