Police carried out targeted preventive operations across Cyprus overnight, maintaining a strong presence in key urban areas in an effort to deter serious crime, uphold public order and boost the public’s sense of security.

The coordinated patrols led to the arrest of four people on offenses including employee theft, motorcycle theft and public insult, authorities said.

During the operations, officers stopped and checked 809 drivers and passengers. Police also conducted 26 inspections of premises to address potential violations, issuing two citations.

Traffic enforcement formed a major part of the night’s activity, with 372 traffic violations reported and 17 additional traffic‑related cases opened. Of the citations issued, 204 involved speeding. Police also impounded nine vehicles.
