Cyprus’ Harmonized Consumer Price Index (HICP) rose 0.94% in February 2026 compared with the same month last year, while remaining virtually unchanged from January with a marginal decline of 0.01%, according to the Statistical Service.
The categories showing the largest annual increases were Recreation, Sports and Culture (5.4%) and Restaurants and Accommodation Services (4.9%). The steepest declines were recorded in Clothing and Footwear (‑6.2%) and Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels (‑3.5%) .
Month‑to‑month, the biggest movements were in Clothing and Footwear (0.8%) and Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels (‑0.5%) .
By economic category, Energy posted the sharpest annual decrease at ‑8.4%, while Services recorded the largest increase at 4.2% .
The HICP measures price changes in goods and services purchased by households and tourists within the country, using a harmonized methodology set by the European Union. As of January 2026, the index uses 2025 as its reference year (2025=100).
Price collection is carried out monthly in the urban areas of Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca and Paphos, covering 850 goods and services, with weekly pricing for seasonal items, meat and fuels.
