A weak low‑pressure system is affecting the region, while a deeper low centered over the central Mediterranean is expected to influence Cyprus from Wednesday, bringing periods of dust in the atmosphere.
On Monday, skies will be partly cloudy at times with increased local cloud cover expected to produce isolated showers or a brief thunderstorm, first in the west, north and mountains, and later in southeastern areas. Winds will be mainly southwest to northwest at moderate to strong force, 4 to 5 Beaufort, and temporarily very strong, 6 Beaufort, along the southern coast. Seas will be generally rough, easing to slightly rough to rough by late afternoon. Temperatures will reach around 19 C inland, in the west, southwest and north coasts, 20 C on the southeast and east coasts, and 8 C in the highest mountains.
Tonight, increased cloud cover will persist, especially in the west, north and mountains, where isolated light showers cannot be ruled out. Winds will weaken, blowing southwest to northwest at light to moderate force, 3 to 4 Beaufort, later becoming locally downslope at 3 Beaufort. Seas will be slightly rough to rough in the west and north, and slightly rough elsewhere. Temperatures will fall to around 6 C inland, 10 C on the south, north and east coasts, 13 C on the west coast and 2 C in the highest mountains, where frost is expected in places.
On Tuesday, conditions will gradually become partly cloudy, with isolated showers possible after midday, mainly in the mountains and the north.
Wednesday and Thursday will be mostly cloudy with local showers and isolated thunderstorms, with hail possible in storms. From Wednesday night, some areas may see heavy or prolonged rainfall. Conditions are expected to improve significantly from late Thursday afternoon.
Temperatures will rise on Tuesday and remain near seasonal averages through Thursday.
