Cyprus hotels report steep drop in summer bookings

Summer bookings are running well below last year’s levels, the director general of the Cyprus Hotel Association, Christos Angelides.

Angelides said that hotel occupancy for the season is currently between 40 and 50 percent, a decline of about 25 percent from the same period in 2025.

He said cancellations have eased to manageable levels, but new bookings are rising too slowly to offset expected losses in revenue. The trend, he said, is a concern for the industry.

Angelides added that higher kerosene prices are creating further difficulties as airlines reassess their schedules.

The Cabinet approved a subsidy scheme through the end of April. The association is asking for the program to be extended into May and June, he said.
