The Church of Cyprus has signed a contract to purchase 15 buses that will be donated to the National Guard.
The vehicles will be used to transport contract soldiers and conscripts safely to and from their units.
The agreement was signed by Archbishop Georgios of Cyprus, Defence Minister Vasilis Palmas and a representative of the contractor.
Archbishop Georgios said the Church was stepping in to support the needs of the National Guard. Palmas said the Church’s sensitivity on matters of national interest is well known.
National Guard Chief Lt. Gen. Emmanouil Theodorou also attended the ceremony.
