The number of registered jobseekers in Cyprus stood at 8,962 at the end of April, according to figures released by the island’s Statistical Service.
Citing the data, the newspaper Alithia reported that seasonally adjusted unemployment — considered a clearer indicator of underlying trends — showed what it described as a worrying increase. The number of unemployed rose from 10,316 in March to 10,585 in April.
Compared with April 2025, unemployment was up by 10.4 per cent, or 844 people.
