Cabinet approves bill for efficiency of medical boards

The Cabinet has approved a bill aimed at modernizing and improving the efficiency of medical boards in Cyprus, with the goal of providing faster and better service to citizens.

Health Minister Neofytos Charalambides said the new legal framework ends the fragmentation of current procedures and establishes unified, transparent and more effective referral and evaluation processes.

He added that the reform ensures equal and fair treatment for all patients.

Charalambides also noted that the bill addresses the limited availability of doctors in the public sector by allowing participation from OKYPY physicians as well as private doctors contracted with the Health Insurance Organization.

He said the changes strengthen fairness and transparency and guarantee that all citizens will be assessed under a single, modern set of procedures and criteria.
