The head of the Cypriot Veterinary Association, Dimitris Epaminondas, said recent tests for foot‑and‑mouth disease have shown no positive cases, and that 121 farms remain under quarantine.
Alithia reported that Epaminondas said any easing of quarantine measures depends on overall test results and the completion of vaccinations.
He called the absence of new cases in the Limassol and Nicosia districts in recent days “a positive development.”
According to the report, Epaminondas said culling operations have been completed and that vaccinations began on Monday at farms in Paphos, where no vaccinations had yet taken place.
He said that despite the large number of animals culled, there is still enough meat for the domestic market and no need for imports.
