The authorities are fully aware of complaints concerning the practice of leasing out workers within the hotel industry, Michalis Frangou, General Secretary of the SEK hotel employees’ federation, told the CyBC.
He said that certain individuals were setting up companies, bringing in workers from third countries, and then subletting their labour to hotels.
Neophytos Timinis, General Secretary of the PEO hotel employees’ section, said the issue had first come to light in 2025 and that all relevant parties had been aware of it since. He stressed that any form of employment other than that prescribed by law was unlawful.
