Emirates suspends codeshare flights with flydubai to Tel Aviv after cockpit stabbing

Emirates said Thursday it has suspended all codeshare flights with flydubai to and from Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv until further notice.

“Passengers with a final destination of Tel Aviv will not be accepted for boarding at the point of departure,” the airline said. “Passengers already en route to Tel Aviv will be assisted and given all possible support to complete their journey.”

The move means anyone who booked a ticket to Israel through Emirates, a route that requires a stop in Dubai and a transfer to a flydubai aircraft, will no longer be able to board even the Emirates flight for the first leg to Dubai.

“Affected passengers are asked to contact their travel agent or the Emirates call center, or visit emirates.com for the latest updates,” the airline said.

Earlier, the United Arab Emirates’ attorney general ordered an investigation into an incident Wednesday aboard flydubai Flight FZ1073 from Dubai to Tel Aviv, according to the state news agency. The plane made an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia after the first officer stabbed the captain in an apparent attempt to crash the aircraft, the agency reported.
