Israel is preparing to receive the remains of a mother and two young children, all of whom died while trapped in the Gaza Strip.
According to Hamas, the three were killed in an Israeli attack several months ago. The three are on a list of four dead hostages to be handed over to Israel on Thursday.
But it may take time before it is confirmed that the remains being handed over are indeed those of the two children and their mother.
The children were 9 months and 4 years old, respectively, when they were abducted with their parents from their family home in southern Israel during the Hamas-led attack on October 7, 2023. Both the children and their mother have German citizenship in addition to Israeli.
Hamas has also announced that it will hand over the remains of a man who was 83 years old when he was abducted during the attack.
