The Israel Football Association (IFA) has canceled the third league’s northern division season due to widespread, systematic match-fixing.

The decision was made public on Sunday.

Last week, the IFA revealed that 40 players, coaches, and officials, including those from other leagues, were involved in match-fixing and signing fake contracts to circumvent salary caps.

Evidence from an investigation showed that around half of the league’s teams were implicated, with connections to international betting websites.

The findings have been forwarded to Israeli police and UEFA.

IFA Chairman Moshe Zuares said, “I had no choice but to stand in front of the nation and declare ‘fixed!’ Through our legal system, the police, and parliament, we will purge football of the corruption that has infiltrated it and is threatening its very foundations.”

Sports Minister Miki Zohar added, “We will cooperate with the IFA in the best possible way and will not allow match-fixing to undermine the integrity of football in Israel.”
