Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides unveiled a six-point proposal focused on security, humanitarian aid, and reconstruction in Gaza during a working lunch at the EU Med9 Summit held in Slovenia.

The plan was presented in the context of the broader 20-point peace initiative proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump, according to a written statement by Victor Papadopoulos, Director of the Presidential Communications Office.

Jordan’s King Abdullah also attended the working lunch, which brought together leaders from nine Mediterranean EU member states. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen participated in the summit’s opening session, which focused on EU competitiveness and the bloc’s Multiannual Financial Framework.

On the sidelines of the summit, Christodoulides held a bilateral meeting with Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob. The two discussed Cyprus–Slovenia relations and priorities for Cyprus’s upcoming presidency of the Council of the European Union. Christodoulides expressed gratitude for Slovenia’s principled stance on the Cyprus issue and its longstanding contribution to UNFICYP, the United Nations peacekeeping force in Cyprus.

The Cypriot president is scheduled to travel to Zagreb later Monday, where he will meet with Croatia’s president and prime minister on Tuesday.
