FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – The World Bank has presented a 1-billion-U.S.-dollar reconstruction project in Lebanon, focused on rebuilding critical infrastructure, as reported by the National News Agency (NNA) on Wednesday.
The project includes a 250-million-dollar World Bank loan, with the remaining funding to be covered by international aid.
The initiative was outlined during a meeting between Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam and a World Bank delegation.
It will address landfill remediation and vital infrastructure reconstruction using economic measurement methodology.
Prime Minister Salam emphasized the need to prioritize reconstruction in conflict-damaged border areas, facilitate road reopening, and enable the return of displaced citizens.
The Lebanon Rapid Damage and Needs Assessment (RDNA) 2025 report, released by the World Bank, estimated reconstruction and recovery needs following the conflict at 11 billion dollars.
