FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – Hamas has welcomed US President Donald Trump’s statement that “no one should drive any Palestinians out of Gaza.”
Trump made the announcement during a press conference with Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin at the White House on Wednesday.
“If President Trump’s statements imply a retreat from the idea of expelling the population of the Gaza Strip, they are good news,” a Hamas statement said.
In February, Trump presented a plan for the Gaza Strip that involved relocating the two million Palestinians living there to neighboring countries such as Jordan and Egypt.
He also proposed American ownership of the area, which would then be rebuilt and transformed into a “Middle Eastern Riviera.”
