LOS ANGELES — ABC has suspended “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” indefinitely following comments the host made about the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
A network spokesperson confirmed the decision Wednesday, citing remarks Kimmel made during Tuesday’s monologue. In the segment, Kimmel suggested the suspect in Kirk’s death was a supporter of President Donald Trump.
The comments drew criticism from conservative groups and prompted backlash on social media. The Federal Communications Commission said it was reviewing the broadcast.
Kirk, a prominent right-wing figure, was fatally shot earlier this week. Authorities have not released details about the suspect’s political affiliations.
ABC did not say when or if the show would return. Kimmel has not publicly responded.
