FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – More than 10,000 people have been killed in central and northern Nigeria over the past two years in attacks by jihadists and criminal gangs, Amnesty International said Thursday.

The rights group accused President Bola Tinubu’s government of failing to protect vulnerable communities from armed raids, kidnappings, and massacres.

The violence has devastated villages, particularly in the Middle Belt, where clashes between herders and farmers often carry ethnic and religious tensions.

Amnesty’s report, released on the second anniversary of Tinubu’s presidency, highlights the worsening security crisis despite government pledges to curb attacks.
