FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – Armenia’s parliament voted on Wednesday to begin the country’s bid for European Union membership, signaling a shift away from Russia and toward stronger ties with the West.
The motion, passed by 64 votes to seven, calls on the government to initiate the accession process.

Armenia has criticized Russia for its lack of support during Azerbaijan’s 2023 military campaign, which reclaimed the Armenian-majority region of Karabakh, ending three decades of separatist control.
