A Beijing court has ruled on compensation claims filed by families of passengers missing on Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370, ordering payouts in line with international and Chinese law.

The Chaoyang District People’s Court ruled Friday on eight cases involving eight passengers, awarding more than 2.9 million yuan (about $410,000) per case to cover damages, funeral expenses, emotional distress, and other related costs, the Beijing High People’s Court said Monday.

Flight MH370 disappeared on March 8, 2014, en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing with 239 people on board.

Since 2016, families of 75 missing passengers have filed 78 lawsuits seeking compensation and calling for the creation of a search and rescue fund against Malaysia Airlines and other defendants.
