The body of a 27-year-old man was recovered from the sea off Malama beach in Protaras on Wednesday evening, as police launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
Officers were alerted shortly after 9.30pm by staff at the General Hospital, who reported the death of a man who had earlier been pulled from the water at the popular resort beach.
The victim has been identified as an Indian national. Police said preliminary examinations had ruled out any suggestion of foul play, with early indications instead pointing to drowning.
The precise cause of death is expected to be established by a post-mortem examination, which will be carried out at a later date.
Police said their investigation into the incident was ongoing.
