FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – The crossings of irregular migrants from the north Cyprus to the Republic continued overnight.
The Green Line, which separates the Republic of Cyprus from the Turkish-controlled northern part of the island, has become a route for migrants seeking to enter Cyprus.
On Wednesday night, migrants crossed the buffer zone in the Aglantzia area near the University Campus undisturbed.
Students in the area noticed the incident and called police, reports Ant1.
A total of seven immigrants, including one minor, were picked up and transferred to the Pournara Migrant Center.
12 migrants arrived in the very same area in February.

The Cypriot government has implemented stricter controls and increased patrols along the Green Line to prevent illegal crossings. Despite these efforts, many migrants find themselves stranded in the UN-patrolled buffer zone, facing harsh conditions and uncertainty.
The government continues to balance policy and humanitarian concerns, providing assistance to migrants while maintaining strict controls to prevent illegal crossings.
