The meteorological service in Cyprus has elevated its warning to an orange danger level due to the extremely low temperatures expected tonight.

The warning will be in effect from 10 PM tonight until 8 AM on Sunday.

During this period, temperatures are forecasted to drop significantly across the region.

In the highest mountainous regions, the minimum temperature is expected to plunge to -11 degrees Celsius.

Such extreme cold can greatly impact daily activities and pose challenges for those in affected areas.

What is an Orange Warning?

An orange warning is a weather alert indicating that significant weather conditions are expected, which could impact daily activities and pose potential risks. It is a step above a yellow warning and below a red warning. Here’s a quick breakdown of the color-coded weather warnings:

– **Yellow Warning:** Be aware. Weather conditions are not unusual but may pose a risk to those in vulnerable locations or activities.
– **Orange Warning:** Be prepared. Weather conditions are infrequent and potentially dangerous or disruptive. People in affected areas should prepare and consider delaying or canceling activities.
– **Red Warning:** Take action. Very dangerous weather conditions are expected, and immediate action is required to protect life and property.
