FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – The Church of Cyprus has announced a nationwide fundraiser to aid suffering Christians in Syria, set to take place on the Fifth Sunday of Lent, April 6, 2025, across all parishes in Cyprus.
Through its encyclical, the Holy Synod emphasized the severity of the crisis faced by Orthodox Christians in Syria, particularly under the ancient Patriarchate of Antioch, deeply affected by prolonged conflict and persecution.
Drawing parallels to its own challenges, including the occupation of part of its homeland, the Church of Cyprus pledged strong support for the Church of Antioch and all Christians in the region.
It urged the Cypriot faithful to donate generously, describing contributions as acts of love and solidarity toward those enduring grave hardships.
The encyclical concluded with a prayer for blessings upon all donors and for strength and comfort to Christians in Syria during these critical times.
