FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – A 22-year-old man from Nicosia tragically died on Saturday after being struck by a falling log while setting up a firework display in a high school courtyard.
Police reported receiving information about the incident at approximately 5:30 p.m. Upon arrival, officers determined that the log fell during the setup process, fatally injuring Daniel Cristian Fratilescu, a Romanian citizen formerly residing in Strovolos.
An ambulance transported Fratilescu to the First Aid Department of Nicosia General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by the attending doctor.
An autopsy will be conducted at a later date.
The Municipality of Strovolos extended its condolences to Fratilescu’s family and loved ones, calling the incident a tragic loss on Holy Saturday. The Municipality urged prudence and responsibility to prevent similar accidents during Easter celebrations.
