Cyprus Airways Flight Returns to Larnaca Airport After Smoke Detected in Cabin – Sigma

A Cyprus Airways plane headed to Dubai was forced to return to Larnaca Airport on Friday afternoon after the pilot reported smoke in the cabin shortly after takeoff, reports Sigma.

Though the airline denied the reports of smoke – the TV station said the aircraft, carrying 65 passengers and a six-member crew, made a safe landing at Larnaca Airport.

Fire engines accompanied the plane to the parking lot as a precaution, according to the TV report.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or further disruption.

The passengers disembarked and eventually departed for their destination shortly after 15:00 with another aircraft and crew.

The airline, contacted by Sigma, did not comment, and later denied that there was smoke in the cabin.
