Cyprus and the United States recently carried out a joint military exercise as part of their Bilateral Defense Cooperation. From February 17 to 28, 2025, the “PROTEAS – 04” Special Operations Training Exercise was co-organized by the National Guard of Cyprus and the U.S. Armed Forces.
The exercise aimed at planning and executing special operations.

The training focused on various special operations scenarios, including underwater explosives placement, target engagement, and procedures for exiting a hostile shore.
These activities were designed to enhance mutual understanding, exchange of knowledge, and interoperability between the two nations’ armed forces.

Lieutenant General George Tsitsikostas, Chief of the National Guard, and U.S. Ambassador to Cyprus Julie S. Davis, attended part of the exercise.
This initiative is part of the Hellenic General Staff’s broader planning efforts to strengthen military cooperation and improve operational readiness on a bilateral level.
