NICOSIA, Cyprus — A joint operation involving police, municipal health services, the Fire Department, the VAT Office, and members of the Cyprus Property Owners Association was carried out Tuesday in Nicosia, targeting residential buildings for legal, safety, and hygiene compliance.
Officials inspected eight apartment blocks and homes in various parts of the city. One individual residing illegally in the Republic of Cyprus was arrested.
The Fire Service reported violations related to gas cylinders, emergency lighting, and fire extinguishers. Health inspectors identified cleanliness and public health concerns, while the property association flagged unauthorized or hazardous premises.
The Tax Department is expected to follow up with checks on property owners regarding tax obligations. Authorities say similar operations will continue to ensure public safety and legal compliance.
