FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – President Nikos Christodoulides will attend the funeral of Pope Francis on Saturday at St. Peter’s Square in Vatican City.
The ceremony, led by Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re, Dean of the College of Cardinals, is expected to draw world leaders and dignitaries mourning the Catholic Church leader’s passing.
In a message of condolences, Christodoulides described Pope Francis as a champion of peace, dialogue, and the coexistence of cultures.
He highlighted the pope’s commitment to social justice, love, and solidarity, adding that all of Christianity mourns the loss of a remarkable leader.
On behalf of the Cypriot people and government, Christodoulides extended condolences to the Vatican and Catholic Church, expressing respect and gratitude for the late pope’s legacy.
