FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – The Cyprus Consumers Association has raised concerns over a sharp increase in retail prices for fruits and vegetables, urging authorities to take action.
The warning follows the group’s second major survey on the fresh produce market, covering the period from April to July 2025. The study revisited the same products examined in its 2024 review and found what it described as an “excessive increase” in retail pricing.
Officials said the findings point to persistent problems in the marketing and pricing of fresh produce, with profit margins remaining disproportionately high.
The association is calling for regulatory measures to protect both consumers and producers from unfair pricing practices.
