Cyprus is continuing voluntary and forced returns of migrants living illegally in the country, authorities said Friday.
Police, working with the Deputy Ministry of Migration, repatriated 171 people over the past two days.
Officials said the returns are part of a strategy implemented over the past three years that they say is helping curb irregular migration.
According to government figures, 11,742 migrants living illegally in Cyprus were returned in 2025 through voluntary and enforced procedures, compared with 10,092 in 2024.
Arrivals have also fallen. Cyprus recorded 2,444 irregular migrant arrivals in 2025, down from 6,109 in 2024 and 17,434 in 2022.
Police said efforts to identify and repatriate people residing illegally in the Republic of Cyprus continue on a daily basis.
