News From Cyprus

FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – Millions of cubic meters of purified water have reportedly been lost in Cyprus, flowing into the sea rather than being used, according to a report by Phileleftheros newspaper.

The report, based on findings from the Court of Accounts, states that more than 4.7 million cubic meters of treated water was discarded between 2020 and 2023.

In 2020 alone, treated water from Larnaca and Limassol was released into the sea, raising concerns over resource management.

Officials have not yet announced plans to address the issue, but the revelation has sparked discussions on water conservation and sustainable usage in the region.
