Cyprus’ Forestry Department has said that all activities organized for the International Day of Forests on March 21 were successfully completed, drawing strong participation from the public.
According to the department, visitors joined guided walks along several nature trails across the island — including Agioi Anargyroi, Delikipos, Chelidonia, Doxa Soi o Theos–Moutti tis Horas, Xyliatos Dam, Gialia, Petra tou Romiou, Chryssoroyiatissa and Smigies — as well as a tour of the Platania Forest Station.
Participants were briefed on this year’s theme, “Forests and Economies,” and received information on local flora and fauna, as well as wildfire risks and forest‑protection measures.
The department also thanked visitors to the Environmental Information Centers at Cape Greco and Troodos, and to the A.G. Leventis Troodos Botanical Garden.
Guests viewed exhibits and dioramas, watched films on Cyprus’ national forest parks and explored nearby nature trails.
The Forestry Department said it remains ready to support initiatives by organized groups that promote forest protection and awareness.
