Cyprus recorded the highest share of women pursuing postgraduate studies in the EU and the second-highest share of women in doctoral studies in 2022, according to Eurostat.
Of the 9,359 postgraduate students in Cyprus, 74.2% were women, followed by Poland (67.3%) and Lithuania (66.1%).
At the EU level, 58.6% of postgraduate students were women, with Cyprus leading the way.
Women represented the majority of postgraduate students in all EU countries except Luxembourg.
In doctoral studies, 58.0% of candidates in Cyprus were women, the second-highest after Latvia (59.6%).
The EU average was 48.5%.
