FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – A 53-year-old man has admitted to charges stemming from a car crash that damaged the front of a café-restaurant in Kalavasos on August 12.

The incident occurred near the village’s roundabout when the driver lost control of his vehicle and struck the storefront, causing minor damage.

After the crash, the man fled the scene but was later located by police in Zygi. Authorities reported that he smelled of alcohol and refused to take a preliminary breathalyzer test. He was arrested and charged with negligent driving, leaving the scene of an accident, refusal to undergo alcohol testing, and driving without insurance.

The Larnaca District Court has scheduled September 15 for the reading of facts and sentencing. Until then, the man remains free on €5,000 bail and has had his driving license suspended.
