Police announced traffic and parking restrictions in central Nicosia ahead of Wednesday’s celebrations marking Greece’s March 25 national holiday.
Parking will be prohibited from midnight Tuesday in several areas around the Faneromeni Church and the parade route, including the underground lot near the Tsaoushis shop, Nikokleous and Lefkonos streets, the streets surrounding Faneromeni Church, and on Konstantinou Palaiologou, Omirou, Vyronos, Michalaki Karaoli and Evagorou.
From 9 a.m. on March 25, traffic will be halted on Omirou Avenue between Aigyptou Street and Eleftheria Square, and on Vyronos Avenue from the Museum traffic lights to Griva Digeni Avenue. From 9:30 a.m., additional closures will affect the full parade axis, including Vyronos, Omirou, Michalaki Karaoli and Demosthenis Severis.
Designated parking areas for spectators include the Davilla lot, the moat parking below City Hall, the Fire Service parking area and the Kolokasis opening.
After 9:30 a.m., buses arriving from Strovolos, Lakatamia, Anthoupolis, Parisinos, Engomi, Ayios Dometios and Ayios Pavlos will drop off and pick up passengers at Rigenis Street near the Solomos statue. Buses from Pallouriotissa, Kaimakli, Aglantzia, Dasoupolis and Latsia will stop on Stasinou Avenue near the Kaningos bridge.
Police urged the public to follow officers’ instructions and reminded that the use of drones is prohibited during the events.
