Police in Limassol have arrested a 66‑year‑old man on suspicion of obtaining €32,000 through false pretences in a bogus land‑sale deal, authorities said Wednesday.
A couple reported to Limassol CID on 2 February that in 2020 they agreed to buy an agricultural plot from the suspect and paid him the full amount. Police said the man failed to transfer the property because he is a tenant of the land, not its owner.
Investigators secured a court warrant and arrested the suspect on Tuesday night. He appeared before the Limassol District Court on Wednesday, which ordered him held for five days while the investigation continues.
Limassol CID is handling the case.
