Reports of racially motivated crimes have increased in Cyprus

FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – Reports of racially motivated crimes have increased in Cyprus, with authorities documenting dozens of incidents over the past two years.

Police recorded 51 attacks on food delivery drivers during this period, with 28 incidents reported in 2024 and 23 in 2023.

Additionally, 54 incidents with a racist motive were recorded last year.

Disy MP Rita Superman said the rise in racist violence indicates that the phenomenon is becoming more prevalent in Cypriot society.

Authorities continue to investigate the incidents, with several cases leading to criminal proceedings.
