A policing campaign has been launched Monday with roadside checks of trucks and buses across Cyprus.
This campaign – the 1st this year – is being carried out simultaneously at a pan-European level, within the framework of cooperation with the European Traffic Police Network ROADPOL.
During the campaign, the following will be checked:
• Driver and vehicle documents
• Speed
• Speed limit devices
• Driving/working hours
• Tachographs (analog and digital devices) and
• The mechanical condition of the vehicles
For the successful outcome of the campaign, the Police is working closly with the Department of Road Transport and the Department of Labor Relations.
A press release from the police notes: ‘The prevention of road collisions involving trucks and buses is of utmost importance, given that the consequences are usually more adverse, with an increased number of victims, compared to other road collisions.’
