Cyprus recorded the highest annual economic growth among EU member states with available data, according to figures released by Eurostat.
The country’s GDP grew by 1.4% in volume terms in the fourth quarter of 2025 compared with the previous quarter. Year‑on‑year, Cyprus posted a 4.5% increase — the strongest annual performance in the bloc.
Across the eurozone, seasonally adjusted GDP rose by 0.3% in the fourth quarter of 2025, matching the quarterly increase in the wider EU. In the previous quarter, GDP had grown by 0.3% in the eurozone and 0.4% in the EU.
On an annual basis, GDP increased by 1.3% in the eurozone and 1.5% in the EU in the fourth quarter, following rises of 1.4% and 1.6% respectively in the third quarter. For the whole of 2025, Eurostat estimates growth of 1.5% in the eurozone and 1.6% in the EU.
Employment also continued to rise. The number of people in work increased by 0.2% in both the eurozone and the EU in the fourth quarter compared with the previous three months — the same rate as in the eurozone and slightly above the 0.1% increase recorded in the EU in the third quarter.
Compared with the fourth quarter of 2024, employment rose by 0.6% in the eurozone and 0.7% in the EU. For 2025 as a whole, employment is estimated to have grown by 0.7% in the eurozone and 0.5% in the EU.
