A 19-year-old man was stopped by traffic police early Sunday morning after being caught driving at 190 km/h on the Limassol–Nicosia highway, nearly double the legal speed limit of 100 km/h.
The incident occurred at approximately 2:30 a.m. near GSP Stadium, where officers from the national traffic division were conducting speed checks.
The driver also failed a breathalyzer test, registering 21 micrograms of alcohol per 100 milliliters of breath — more than twice the legal limit of nine micrograms.
He is expected to appear before the Nicosia District Court on Tuesday to face charges related to traffic violations.
