FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – Public transport workers in Larnaca launched an indefinite strike at midnight, escalating a labor dispute over working hours and contract violations.
The walkout follows a 48-hour strike that began Wednesday, with employees protesting what they say is the company’s failure to honor the agreed 38-hour workweek and other contractual obligations.
In a joint statement, the PEO, SEK and DEOK unions said the Ministry of Labor’s Department of Labor Relations had confirmed a blatant breach of the collective agreement in the transport sector.
