Cyprus has increased funding for its Cultural Decentralization Grant Program to €400,000 in 2026, aiming to support more free cultural events in rural communities, the Culture Ministry said Monday.
The program’s budget has nearly doubled from 2023, when €172,000 funded 44 performances in 38 communities.
It rose to €276,000 in 2024 for 73 performances in 56 communities and €287,000 in 2025 for 72 performances in 52 communities.
This year’s scheme allows repeat productions, workshops and walks, with an emphasis on involving local communities, boosting intergenerational participation and supporting vulnerable groups.
Eligibility has been extended to community service clusters, while projects in mountain, remote and fire‑affected areas will receive additional weighting.
