Registered unemployment in Cyprus rose in November compared with the previous month, though figures were lower than a year earlier, the Statistical Service has said.

On the last day of November, 10,924 people were registered as unemployed at District Labour Offices. Seasonally adjusted data showed 10,078 unemployed, up from 9,723 in October.

Compared with November 2024, unemployment fell by 163 people, or 1.5 percent. The decline was mainly attributed to construction, manufacturing, trade, financial and insurance activities, and fewer newcomers to the labor market.

By sector, accommodation and food services accounted for the largest share of unemployed at 3,642, followed by wholesale and retail trade at 1,569 and professional, scientific and technical activities at 813.

The Statistical Service said the figures cover people aged 15 and over who are able, available and actively seeking work, excluding self-employed and those seeking part-time or specific employment.
