Cyprus’ Interior Ministry said Thursday it will review the system used to send emergency text alerts after a test showed that delivery times varied significantly among mobile providers.
In a statement, the ministry said the purpose of the trial was to assess how quickly the public could be notified if precautionary self‑protection measures were needed. Officials said the test revealed delays that differed from one telecommunications company to another.
The Deputy Ministry of Innovation, Research and Digital Policy is in contact with the providers to examine whether the transmission time can be reduced. The Interior Ministry said the alert system will be re‑evaluated once the technical review is completed.
