A weak weather disturbance is expected to affect Cyprus through Saturday, bringing periods of cloud and isolated showers, the Meteorological Service said Friday.
Skies will be mostly clear early in the day, with thicker cloud developing over the west and north. Isolated afternoon showers are expected, and a brief thunderstorm cannot be ruled out. Winds will start light and variable before shifting to the southwest and northwest at light to moderate strength, 3 to 4 Beaufort. Seas will be calm to slightly rough. Temperatures will reach 19°C inland and on the coasts, and 9°C in the higher mountains.
Tonight will turn mostly clear, though patches of cloud will persist and a stray shower may occur along the northern coast. Winds will be light, mainly downslope, at 3 Beaufort. Temperatures will fall to 6°C inland, 8–9°C on the coasts, and 2°C in the higher mountains, where frost is expected.
Local showers or a thunderstorm are forecast for Saturday afternoon, mainly in the mountains and in western and southern areas. Snow or sleet may fall on the highest peaks of Troodos as a stronger northerly flow develops.
Sunday and Monday are expected to be mostly clear, with some afternoon cloud.
